What is Iftar?

During the month of Ramadan, Muslims around the world observe a fast from the early hours of the morning until sunset. During this time, no food or drink is consumed. The fast is broken at sunset with the call to the evening prayer; this special moment is called "Iftar." Iftar is the moment of physical and spiritual renewal after a long and spiritual day, marking the end of the fast.

How is the Fast Broken at Iftar?

Traditionally, Iftar begins with dates and water. This follows the Sunnah (tradition) of the Prophet Muhammad and is a healthy way to gradually normalize the body after hours of fasting and dehydration. After dates and water, usually fruits or light foods are consumed. This initial step prepares the body for the main meal without overwhelming it.

A Helping Hand from You to the World

At Hands For All Association, we believe in the power of compassion and the duty to support one another. Established in America, our mission is to reach out to those in need across the globe, without any discrimination based on language, religion, or race. Guided by the principles of Islam, we strive to uphold the dignity of every human being and make distances feel closer through acts of kindness.

This Ramadan, You Can Make a Difference
Ramadan is a time of reflection, gratitude, and generosity. It is an opportunity to purify our hearts and grow closer to Allah by extending a helping hand to those less fortunate. Every iftar shared is a chance to spread hope and show that no one is forgotten.

Our volunteers carefully prepare nutritious meals that respect local traditions and dietary needs. We serve families struggling below the poverty line, refugees displaced from their homes, and countless others who might otherwise break their fast alone or with little to eat.

This year, we are organizing iftar and sahoor meals at 50 different locations, serving those who would otherwise face an empty table. For just $10, you can provide a warm meal to a person in need—a simple act that carries immense blessings.
